The Department of Sociology offers Bachelor of Arts. The B.A. courses are oriented towards the study of Introduction to Sociology, General Sociology, Indian Social Institutions, Introduction to Tribal Society, Tribes of India, Rural Sociology, Gandhian Point of View for Society, Social History of India, Entrepreneurship, Indian Constitution, Social Change in India, Urban Sociology, Sociological Perspectives, Functional Sociologist, Sociological Thinkers, Social Psychology, Social Anthropology, Social Research & Statistical Analysis, Sociology of Environment, Women & Society, Social Demography, Society and Mass Media, Sociology Religion, Crime & Society and Industrial Sociology.

Present Practices of the Department:

  • The Centre regularly engages itself in academic debates and dialogues through organizing seminars/conferences/workshops.
  • The faculty members of the Centre deeply engage themselves in conducting community level studies through various projects and case studies.
  • The Centre focuses some of the key areas of sociology like Sociological theories, methods of social research, sociology of development, sociology of health, sociology of environment, sociology of NGOs, Sociology of Tribal Society, Social inclusion, gender and society, social movements in India, Sociology of crime and deviance, regional/KBK specific socio-economic issues.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs):
  • PEO1:Graduates be developing an understanding of these aspects of the sociological tradition, the interrelationship between social order and social change.
  • PEO2: Graduates develop an appreciation for a disciplined inquiry, observation and research analysis of the social phenomena.
  • PEO3: Graduates will be able to apply sociological knowledge under skills to address real world social problems and issues in various settings.
